Designing an HR command centre people actually open daily
Lessons from building the employer portal: drill-downs beat dashboards, and every number should be one click from the records behind it.
A dashboard nobody trusts is worse than no dashboard. The fastest way to earn trust is to make every figure inspectable.
Rule one: no dead numbers
Every KPI tile in the employer portal drills into the records that produced it — employees, merchants, providers, transactions. If a number can't be explained by a list, it shouldn't be on screen.
Rule two: the assistant explains itself
System Intelligence insights are only useful when they show their evidence. Each insight in PX OS expands into the figures behind it and links to the underlying metric, so an HR lead can defend the recommendation in a meeting.
Rule three: work happens in the dashboard
Approvals, verifications and ticket resolutions are inline actions with confirmation states and an audit trail. Sending people to another screen to act on what they just saw is how tools become read-only.
